Handanovic interview part 3 - "Finishing my career at Inter? An option but you never know"
Here is part three of Handanovic interview as the Inter goalkeeper answers questions from the fans.
Would you like to finish your career here?
“It could be an option but I do not set limits because you never know what would happen. My only goal is to play until 40 years old. How and where, we will have to see.”
What do you think about the new signings?
“They are experienced and strong players. They are already integrated well here and have the right personality to stay.”
Who is your idol?
“My cousin and then Peter Schmeichel.”
What coach gave you the biggest jump in your ability?
“Bonaiuti changed me a lot. He taught me how to do it and how to think.”
How are you with Spalletti?
“He is a very good coach, will surely give us a big help too. He is the right coach for Inter.”
“As a footballer, he is very good but can still improve. He is very simple but he is not as shy as he seems.”
Your favorite book?
“I read a lot of them, maybe one of Bukowski.”
What error that angers you the most?
“Difficult to say…”
What does a goalkeeper think in a one-on-one situation?
“He doesn’t think.”
What has changed from Udinese to Inter?
“I grew up as a goalkeeper. I joined Inter perhaps during a difficult moment. Now it is time to continue getting better and bring Inter back to how it was before.”
Who is a promising young goalkeeper in Italy?
“Donnarumma, we all know it.”
How are you in Italy?
“I have been here for 14 years. I feel like I am home. It is normal for me. I think in Italian now too.”
Perisic and Icardi?
“I would never put individuals before the team but they are two top players.”
Messi or Ronaldo?
How much is talent and how much is work done in Handanovic?
“You should ask those that worked with me when I was young.”
What do you expect from this month of October?
“We think one game at a time. Each has its own problems and stories. First we think about the derby and then Napoli then Sampdoria. In the league, you have to play everyone twice anyway. October will be very difficult.”
Did you dream of having a career like this when you first started out?
“No, you don’t know it until you started playing for a while. Then, you see how things are going and you know if you can achieve your dreams. Most important thing is you must believe when you are young.”
Ever thought that you would not succeed?
“No, although I have had many difficult moments just like all other players. The important thing is to not give up and continue to believe and work.”
