Sagna: "Karamoh is a gem of French football, the new Dembele"
In an exclusive interview with the Gazzetta dello Sport, former Arsenal and Manchester City defender Bacary Sagna confirms that Inter were at one time very interested in his service.
But first the derby. “I will certainly watch the Milan derby. Italian football has always fascinated me as these are the matches that you always want to play in. I expect a high level of football with a draw in the end.”
Is Karamoh a gem like Mbappe?
“I know Karamoh very well because he is very well known in France. He is a very talented player but rather than comparing him to Mbappe, I would compare him to Dembele in Barcelona. We are just waiting for Karamoh to have more playing time and he will be a big surprise for the Italian league. We have many jewels in France, he is one of them.”
Were you wanted by Inter in recent years?
“I talked to Inter many times especially in the summer where I went from Arsenal to City. At that time, I wanted to stay in the Premier league so I did not go to Italy.”
Do you see a future in Italy then?
“Yes, I am ready. I am following Serie A and there are other great teams in Napoli, Roma, Milan and Juventus. This league is very competitive.”
You didn’t get a call last summer?
“I had opportunity to sign for several Turkish and English clubs, plus those in Portugal, France and Italy. I love to compete at a high level and I know my value. I will return to the field looking for an ambitious team as it is not about money.”
