Inter laying groundwork for Nicolo Barella in summer of 2018 as Ausilio has met with agent twice
The rumors linking Nicolo Barella to Inter are stronger than ever. As reported by the Corriere dello Sport, the chances to seal this deal in January are virtually zero but Piero Ausilio is working on signing the Cagliaritalent for the 2018-2019 season. Then, Inter would have more financial freedom as they continue to respect and stay in the UEFA FPF rules and regulations. The club of Suning understands that there is strong competition out there for Barella from Roma, who wanted to sign him last summer, and Juventus.
Ausilio has already met with Barella’s agent twice with the last one being after the game between Cagliari-Inter. Ausilio used that opportunity to once again reiterate that Inter have been very impressed with the player’s performances and that they are interested. Both sides have agreed to keep in touch, to keep the conversation going which is a good sign. It cannot be said that Inter have “booked” Barella for next season but they understand that finding an agreement with him should not be a problem. In terms of an offer to Cagliari, Inter would like to spend around 18-20 million euros while the Rossoblu want 25.
