Icardi is on pace to break Higuain's record but he is more interested in making the Champions League with Inter
Can he beat Higuain’s record? At this pace, the answer is yes. Mauro Icardi is enjoying a fantastic season and is on an incredible scoring pace. The Corriere dello Sport points out that in the 2015-2016 season, after 15 games, Higuain had 14 goals (finished with 36 goals), so two less than Icardi this year.
In Icardi’s case, he is more interested in team results as he absolutely wants to play in the Champions League for the first time in his career. He also wants to be remembered as the captain who, after six years of abstinence, brought Inter back to the most prestigious club competition.
Next stop for him is the Allianz Stadium.
“Inter number 9 is hungry and with his head already thinking about the game against Juventus on Saturday. He hopes to continue the positive tradition against the Bianconeri (7 goals in 9 games).”
