A "Romanized" Inter in the work with Strootman and Nainggolan. Rudiger...
What do Spalletti and Sabatini have in common? They both have Roma past and for the most part, they have (especially Spalletti) taken Roma as far as they could. The Giallorossi have been consistently the top 3 clubs in Italian Serie A. As a result, both Sabatini and Spalletti are planning to "Romanize" Inter.
According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, the first target is Rudiger, one that Sabatini called him a "magnificent player." Two years ago, the former Roma director brought the German defender to Italy and now Sabatini is looking to do the same, bringing Rudiger to Milan, wearing the black and blue shirt of Inter. Finding an agreement with Rudiger will not be difficult but dealing with Roma will be. Sources suggest that the Giallorossi are asking for a staggering transfer fee of 40 million euros.
Regarding the midfield, the dream is to sign one of Kevin Strootman or Radja Nainggolan. The recent renewal until 2021 has somewhat slowed down the hypothesis for the Dutch midfielder but at the same time, it is possible seeing how he has a clause of 40-45 million euros. Strootman is in great debt with Roma morally because they waited for him after three knee operations. That being said, he would not mind following his mentor Spalletti to Inter and his potential departure would help Roma greatly in terms of reducing the overall wages at the club.
Meanwhile, Nainggolan is also valued around 40 million. The Belgian has the strength and flexibility to play everywhere in the midfield. With Salah (almost) going to Liverpool and Rudiger on his way out, it is frankly difficult to see Roma selling another key player in Nainggolan. The club's intention is to keep the 29 year-old but he is almost running out of patience, wanting a new contract and an adjustment in wage. "I have talked enough about my future," he said. Nainggolan has given his all to Roma and now he expects them to return the favor.
