Steven Zhang to replace Erick Thohir as new Inter president?
Steven Zhang, the son of Suning boss Zhang Jindong, is in love with the city of Milan and with Inter. He has a house in the center of the city without bodyguard, at most maybe a driver. He loves the Italian cuisine although he frequents Bon Wei and Gong restaurant.
He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton business school and has an office on the fifth floor of the Palazzo Saras building. He listens, stores and analyzes data, trying to learn everything that has to do with the world sport that is football because having a business degree is great but it won't be enough until you have hands-on experiment with the sport.
Unfortunately, the first season with Inter was torturous. Just go see the picture of him hugging Stefano Pioli after allowing five goals to Fiorentina. No, that was not the kiss of Judas, that was real empathy between them. But he understood that things needed to change.
Steven Zhang's main role, when Erick Thohir decides to sell the rest of shares in his possession, is to run for the presidency, right now he is only a member of the board. He will act as an interface between the world of Inter and Nanjing, also because Zhang Sr. only speaks Chinese. Steven could soon make his first public speech in Italian, he has been taking lesson three times a week with a teacher that comes to headquarters. Why? He realized that the best way to understand the Italian culture and its world is to know the language.
