Icardi: "Team goal is Champions League. Personal goal is to score goals and help the team"

Mauro Icardi spent a few minutes answering fan questions on Facebook. Here is the first part of the player’s chat with the fans on the social site.

Who is your roommate?

“This year, I’m in the same room with Ansaldi. We get along very well, we have fun.”

What are your ambitions for this season?

“The team goal is to reach the Champions League, both ownership/management and fans have been wanting and asking for it. On the personal level, I hope to continue scoring and helping the team.”

Are you certain of a return to the Champions League?

“This year, there will be an extra place (top four make CL this year instead of three in recent years) so it will be easier. The club is doing its best to become great again.”

What impression do you have on Spalletti?

“I have not trained with him yet. I came later and I am training a part (due to an injury). But I see that he is very motivated and fired up for next season.”

If Dzeko scored 30 under Spalletti, you could have scored 60…

“I don’t think so but I do hope that I score many goals and they are decisive ones too. Last year, they did not bring us anything and that leaves a bitter taste in your mouth. Better score less but get more points…”

What does it mean to be captain?

“It is a great responsibility and pride. This armband has been on the arm of a compatriot and a great champion like Zanetti. I am very proud.”

Are you doing well in Milan?

“Yes, I’m very well here, and so is my family. We are all settled.”

You’re recovering ok?

“Yes, it is going well. When I was with the national team, we decided to not risk it. I will be back next week training with the team.”
