Bergkamp: "I chose Inter over Barcelona, Milan and Juventus"

Dennis Bergkamp played for Inter between the year of 1993 and 1995 and is the current director and coach of the Ajax youth sector. In an interview with Mundo Deportivo, the player revealed his decision to join Inter instead of Barcelona.

“Johan Cruyff wanted me at Bercelona but I wanted to play in Italy because at the time, they had the best league in the world. I did not want to go to Milan because Gullit, Van Basten and Rijkaard had already gone there. Everything was done with Juventus and Inter and I had the best feeling with the directors of Inter who made a lot of promises. They told me that ‘we will play more attacking football’ and we did but only for a month. I did not expect that. But Italy was good for my growth and there, I learned to be a professional.”
