New contract talk with Icardi to happen after January, release clause of 110 million with be either removed or doubled
Inter are ready to sit down to discuss a new contract for Mauro Icardi with his representatives. The player has a release clause of 110 million euros which is only valid in first half of July (1st to 15th). This figure seemed right at first but after a summer of incredible spending and in today market, it is extremely low for someone that just keeps on scoring. Anyway, the goal is to improve what he is making now which is five million euros. On paper, Icardi should be at least on par with Dybala and Higuain as both are making 7.5 million at Juventus. In terms of the clause, it will either be removed or at least doubled.
For his part, Icardi has always expressed the desire to stay at Inter but if the club misses out of the Champions League again, then maybe he will have second thought about staying.
