INTER-MAROTTA: THERE'S THE YES! Will sign three-year contract

INTER-MAROTTA: THERE'S THE YES! Will sign three-year contract

They are like two lovebirds, they like each other, share common things. There is no one that can change their mind: Beppe Marotta and Inter, this marriage could be sooner than expected. Within three weeks, the former Juventus director should materialize his agreement with the Zhang family. Both sides only need one thing: the signature which will last for three years. Although as long as the pen is not on the contract, you can never rule out twists and turns. But they should be treated as such, twists and turns. Today, the scenario is completely going in the same direction. The road ahead is traced as there have been at least three meetings/contracts between Steven Zhang and Marotta. The more they meet each other, the feeling between them increases more and more. So much so that now we have entered an operational phase.

Currently, Inter president is in China where he will stay until November 26, in time for his return to Milan to fly to London for Tottenham-Inter. After these three weeks, this marriage will be put on paper then maybe become operational starting January. Steven Zhang’s trip to China is non-trivial passage in this sense. Last week, he took the opportunity to go to the International Import Expo in Shanghai to promote the club’s brand and participate in some organized commercial events. But this opportunity is also needed for Steven to see his father Jindong to talk about Marotta and to define how he could be integrated into this management. Usually all the big decisions of the club come after a face-to-face between father and son, or after a trip to Nanjing: Marotta is no exception.

Furthermore, it is possible that the former Juventus director himself will do a blitz to Nanjing to meet Zhang Jindong. Also because there is a few more things that Inter and Marotta will have to solve: delegations, division of roles, position in the organization chart. Whatever it is, it should not deviate so much from what Marotta held at Juventus which was CEO. His entry will reinforce the club’s current management but of course there will be no overlapping in terms of responsibilities and roles. Marotta will leave in Appiano and in the new headquarters of the club in Porta Nuova area. Alessandro Antonello will remain Inter CEO, Gardini as CFO and Piero Ausilio as the club’s sporting director.

Zhang wanted Marotta is because of the growth of the Juventus model, one that is considered in some way replicable to Inter. When we say growth, we mean the start of it all, eight years ago, which led to the Juventus of today that can afford signings and wages currently not sustainable by Inter. Marotta recently said that “I will restart in Italy, not abroad,” it is because the farewell with Juventus was traumatic, not without an ugly aftermath. And the former Bianconeri director has chosen the club of Suning as the ideal place to take revenge, or at least to continue his work at high levels. In a nutshell, Marotta believes that Inter have the right bases to start a path to the very top, not just within the limits of a Champions League qualification.

Qualification that remains the goal of the current season: Inter are in line with its plans which is why we expect an ordinary January transfer market. But first thing first: let’s watch the calendar: 20 more days that can lead to the signing of Marotta with Zhang just in time for Juventus-Inter. Just think about that story: we wonder if Steven talked about it with daddy Jindong.
