Adriano: "Icardi and I playing together would form wonderful attacking pair. Zanetti stayed close with me when my father died"
“I know how good I was. I know I did great things on the pitch. I couldn’t believe it at the beginning when I arrived in Italy, at Inter. I remember watching all the players in the dressing room, from Seedorf to Materazzi. I also remember Ronaldo who gave me a nice well come, even into his home. I lived in the hotel then and he asked me if I wanted to move in with him: it was very nice.”
In an exclusive interview with DAZN, Adriano remembers his time at Inter:
“On the sporting level, I experienced an incredible dressing room. In terms of life, Zanetti was an example, always close to me especially when my father died. President Moratti helped me a lot, he was like a second father. I will forever thank you for all that he and his family did for me in those years: every time I talk about him I get very emotional.”
On Inter-Udinese in 2004-2005 and Milan derby in 2009:
“I got the ball in the midfield and beat the remaining defenders to score. I remember everything. I though that I could just run and score a goal: I knew that I had the strength and speed. Derby? Yes, it is true that I scored with my arm but it was not on purpose. I scored one like Maradona…”
Going back to the current events, Adriano talks about Icardi “who is a great player and he is still very young. He and I together on the pitch would form a wonderful attacking force.”
“Right now, I am doing well living in Rio with my family and friends. I live a very normal life. I did not retire, I’m just taking a break. If there is an opportunity to playin again, I will, but only in Brazil. I do not want to stay away from my three children anymore.”
