Icardi has better goalscoring average than Milito, Eto'o and Ibrahimovic, on par with Il Fenomeno Ronaldo
The number 9, for the most part, is always given to the best goalscorer on the team. And since the mid-90s, it also has become the symbol of one of the best players ever: Ronaldo Luis Nazario da Lima, Il Fenomeno.
Since 2013, after passing through Crespo, Cruz and Eto’o, the number 9 has been on the back of Mauro Icardi, the current Inter captain who is marching towards 123 (currently at 118 goals) and that would allow him to overtake Christian Vieri, another great finisher in the history of Inter.
Mauro Icardi’s accomplishments have already been said and written so much but the highlight of it all is the goals per game average. With the goal scored against Roma yesterday, the Argentinian has reached the exact same average as Il Fenomeno: 118 goals in 198 games for Icardi, 59 goals in 99 games for Ronaldo. Both share an average of 0.60 goals per game.
Such an impressive number for Icardi who also managed to beat big names in the history of Inter such as Diego Milito (0.44), Samuel Eto’o (0.52) and Zlatan Ibrahimovic (0.56). The only one that stands in front of Icardi is Christian Viero with his 123 goals in 190 games, an average of 0.65 goals per game.
