Keita is man on mission: ready to convince Inter to pay €34M. Against Juventus...

A mountain worth climbing is beautiful: the mountain in this case is worth €34M. The initial difficulties were many, starting with the agreement with Monaco, the overcoming an Inter monument in Perisic who is playing in his preferred role, first few games playing central forward as starter that he was largely unsuccessful. Keita Balde did not stop at the very first obstacle, he continued the climb and doing so patiently. On Instagram, he recently posted a picture with a quote from Tony Robbins, the famous American life coach: “Setting goals is the first step in turning the invisible into the visible.” And there is one and one “goal” only: to win over Inter.

Everything was fairly slow in three months but then it accelerated in eight days, almost like a sprint uphill: two goals and an assist against Frosinone, then of course stretching his leg out just enough to touch D’Ambrosio’s cross versus Roma. Right foot, left foot and then right foot again: two straight games in a row in the starting lineup, three goals. Yes, goals, the precise reason that has brought the invisible Keita under the eyes of everyone. Well, his goals plus the disappearance of Perisic: even when they played together in Rome, often switching and making the Inter attack more unpredictable. To replace the Croatian as an attacking force, at least until Ivan the Terrible returns, the first step is to ensure that the €5M invested by Ausilio and Gardini for the loan is followed by another €34M. The World Cup runner-up guarantees defensive tracking back that Spalletti cannot ask the Senegalese. On the other hand, Keita currently offers more offensive solutions, including cutting in the box acting as a first forward.

It is likely that in the near future, we will see more Keita on the pitch, perhaps already this Friday at Juventus. Now, there are three players who will fight for two places on the wings against the Bianconeri although Politano is likely to start as well. A year and a half ago, Keita was strongly linked to Juventus. Then Lotito denounced an “attempted extortion.” Marotta reassured him by denying that there was already an agreement with the player. Today, the same Marotta will decide the future of Keita and it will be up to him to keep on climinbing on that difficult road, doing it in the toughest match.  “When I play as starter I feel very good and I can give a big helping hand. I have great confidence in myself and I do not want to stop now.” The climb has only just begun…
