Stefan De Vrij and Lazio, there is still no contract extension. Inter remain hopeful...
“We have a complete agreement with him, there is some problem with the agency that manages the player and it is really a never-ending story but soon we will decide.”
That was a statement made by Lazio sporting director, Igli Tare, a few days ago on the renewal negotiation with Dutch defender Stefan De Vrij, and as he has put it, this “never-ending” story still has not reached a happy conclusion.
According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, “Inter are definitely interested because they have had an agreement with De Vrij for a five-year contract at around four million per year. The possibility of acquiring one of Europe’s best defenders at zero cost surely entices Inter management as they want to offer Spalletti a top class defender to replace Miranda, who is ready to leave Inter after the World Cup. More diplomacy is needed in these next couple of weeks.”
Lazio want to extend the player for one extra year, until 2019, which will become 2020 if the club reaches the Champions League, increasing his salary to 2.5 million and including a release clause of 25. On the part of Inter, they are monitoring the situation, waiting and hoping.
