Thohir leaving Inter is not imminent, Suning not interested in owning 100% of the club
As reported yesterday by Bloomberg, Erick Thohir is ready to sell about 78% of DC United. Today, Tuttosport looks at how the Indonesian businessman is increasingly distancing himself from the world of football.
“The exit from DC United leaves us thinking of a progressive dismissal of football participation of the Indonesian tycoon which continues to remain president at Inter even if he is less and less involved at the club. Even his appearances in Milan are increasingly rare. The fact is that the number one man at Inter right now is Steven Zhang who is being looked at as a future president. From the look of it, Thohir’s exit from Inter is not imminent. The issued is linked to the shareholders’ agreements signed between him and Zhang Jindong. The content of these agreements is not known and in the meantime, Thohir and Zhang have established economic relations even outside of football.
“Another thing is that the current president, Thohir, could get a bonus linked to the possible qualification of Inter in the Champions League. It is the Chinese ownership that can decide to go up from 68.55% to 100%, getting back the 31% controlled by Thohir. However, at the moment, this is something that the Zhang family is not interested in.”
