Bergomi: "Italy needed Inter to be in Champions League. Bravo Spalletti"

Speaking to Radio 24, Beppe Bergomi comments on the CL qualification of Inter.

“Unfortunate to see the Champions League got stripped away from a club like Lazio which, until the penalty, deserved to go through. Football gives and football takes, just think about the game between Inter and Juventus. Seeing Inter in this tournament again is especially good for the fans with whom, Inter have the highest attendance in the league. Even yesterday, many were at the Stadio Olimpico. Not that I do not want to see Lazio but Italy need Inter in the Champions League.”

Bergomi then expresses positive attitude towards Luciano Spalletti. “I always thought that he was the right coach for Inter. Things did not go well in the final games but Inter played with heart. I am a pro-Spalletti, he managed to solve the team that recent years had not reached the goals that it wanted. However, the club still lacks the ability to compete at high levels and will have transfer market problems. For example, the question in the summer will be to understand Cancelo’s situation, to keep Rafinha or not… But overall, there is a good basis to continue.”
