As of this moment, at least one important player will be left out of Champions League list in September
It is a dirty job but someone has to do it. The message is strong and clear: the UEFA ruling on FFP front did not surprise anyone and above all, it will not change anything in terms of market operations because the strategies have been set up for a long time. But the dirty work remains, it is evident.
Guidelines - This conversation goes beyond the budget situation that needs to be resolved by June 30th. We are talking about the list of players that Inter will present in September for the return to the Champions League. The starting point is the last Inter list in Europe, Europa League 2016-2017. Between the two lists, there will have to be a balance between incoming and outgoing transfers. So it is important and correct to clarify the limits within which Ausilio and the rest of Inter management will have to plan the next move.
The first point is that all players signed after 2016-2017 list (Skriniar, Vecino, Gagliardini, Borja Valero, Lautaro Martinez) should be considered as new signings and therefore must be included in the tally. And for them, it is the purchase price, not the current value in the budget. Example: Skriniar is 28 million, not the amortization value.
The second point is that to balance it all, Inter will be able to bring in the past sales (Murillo, Banega), even those who were not in the list of 2016-2017 for Europa League but were part of the season that year (Kondogbia and Jovetic). The tally should also include the transfers of young players on list B. Here is one more reason to celebrate the imminent closure with Genoa after yesterday’s meeting. Radu (in list B in 2016-2017) and Valietti will go to Rossoblu for 12 million euros with buy back clause in favor of Ausilio, in exchange for Salcedo and Serpe on loan. Watch out for Pinamonti because his name is also being discussed with Genoa.
Meeting - Calculation is not simple and it is premature to think about what the Champions League list of Inter looks like at this moment. But judging on everything, Inter would be out of the parameters for about 60 million euros. All this without counting the weight of new signings that will be included in the list: how can you explain to top signings like Nainggolan or Vidal that they could only play in the league? Assuming that Dalbert and Karamoh are going on loan, at the present, Inter should leave out at least one of Skriniar, Vecino, Gagliardini and Laurato Martinez. This topic will be discussed at a meeting between Inter management and Steven Zhang who is returning to Milan.
