Mauro, not for sale. Icardi waiting for new contract but Inter are not in hurry
“Inter account will not be settled with the sale of Mauro Icardi and the desire to renew the current 2021 agreement is there: the Zhang family is willing to offer 6 million euros plus bonuses a year until 2023.”
This is the new update of the Gazzetta dello Sport about the contract renewal of Mauro Icardi which remains on standby. Inter will wait for the 110-million clause to expire, one that is only available abroad from July 1st to the 15th.
“Relationship with the Argentinian is good. Luciano Spalletti wants to continue focusing on him for next season and besides, no club has truly stepped up for Icardi and so there will be time to talk about the new contract. The forward, however, wants to take decisive step towards the new agreement immediately. The exclusion from World Cup was a negative blow for him and the fact of not sitting down immediately after the end of the season to talk to Inter about new contract gave him some regret. Both him and his agent wife expected a meeting before leaving for another vacation but there was not. This silence further disappointes him and his representatives. Nothing is too serious, however because the club is ready to satisfy Mauro by extending contract and raising his wage. They want to play in the Champions League with him but right now, there are other priorities.”
