Lautaro Martinez: "Milito was phenomenal at Inter, now it is up to me to do the same"
In the press conference earlier today, Lautaro Martinez talked about teaming up with Mauro Icardi to form an all Argentinian attack.
“Mauro and I were in contact before I got here. I thank you very much for the attention. He called me a week before I came here. I want to work to earn a starting position and to give my best at every moment just like I did at Racing. Training camp? Well, the first few days are formidable, it is very important. The relaxed atmosphere helps you work at your very best, with great joy. Spalletti has very clear idea, we all know in which direction we have to go to be ready for any challenge ahead of us.”
On being the heir of Milito. “He talked to me a lot about Inter, helped me a lot as well. Because of him, my transfer to this club was much easier. Milito did a lot here and I just have to do my best to leave a positive mark. He was phenomenal and now it is up to me to do the same.”
Few words on the Milan derby. “I know very well the emotions that a derby can give. Two rival teams always give their best going at it. The environment outside the stadium is beautiful but inside it is even stronger. I have see many derby matches and the emotions will be similar to what I felt in Argentina.”
