Eder: "Spalletti wants the Scudetto and here is how they can do it: stop dropping points against small teams"
Speaking to the Gazzetta dello Sport, former Inter forward, Eder, looks back at the three years in the black and blue colors of the club.
“I will never forget my years at Inter. It was not easy to leave and give up the Champions League but I made the right decision. I had the chance to come to China two years ago, after the ’16 Euro but I said no, it was not the right moment. Now it is different, I wanted a change and I have no regrets.”
You saw a few training sessions. What do you think of this Inter?
“A strong team, which last season created a strong foundation for the future. Everyone rowed on the same side: in the dressing room there was discussion but the objective was always the same.”
How far can they go?
“Spalletti wants to win the Scudetto, there is no doubt. And Inter must soon raise a trophy again, I am sure that the team will fight for the top spot. Strong players have arrived, Nainggolan and Asamoah are the demonstration of a club that has great goals in mind.”
Lautaro Martinez is really good?
“He has desire, physical strength, technical qualities and a tough character: all that created by a tough Argentinian league. He has everything to become an important player for the future of Inter. He also has Icardi on his right shoulder to learn. I have known Mauro since the time at Sampdoria, he is incredible, he gets better season after season.”
Who will be Icardi’s rival for the goalscoring title?
“Cristiano Ronaldo is a hit not just for Juventus but for the entire league. But, you play with 11 players , Inter are not inferior. It will be enough not to repeat the errors from last year. I remember that last season we lost too many points against medium to small teams. This is the real difference with Juventus and if Spalletti can manage to eliminate it, Inter will be able to play on equal terms.”
What did you learn from Spalletti?
“I learn from all my coaches, I do not even forget about Iachini. Luciano is on the same level as Conte. He is one who teaches football on the field. With him, I played very little but this does not change the judgement I have for him.”
