Legendary Croatian defender Robert Jarni: "Vrsaljko has huge potential, improved defensively under Simeone"
During his time, Robert Jarni was considered to be one of the best fullbacks in the world. Today, he leads the U19 Croatian national team and speaking to Inter, he discusses Sime Vrsaljko as well as his two other compatriots Ivan Perisic and Marcelo Brozovic.
“Sime did very well in Italy, at Sassuolo, where he matured and deserved the call to go play for Atletico Madrid. There, he continued to improve, especially in defense thanks to a coach like Simeone. He is fast and has incredible acceleration, a fundamental attribute in his game. Can he become the best? Surely has a lot of potential but it is too soon to talk about it. We’ll revisit this topic in three years.
“Brozovic has made a very huge leap in quality. He showed that at the World Cup but we already knew that he was very good. When he is focused, he is essential for his team. Perisic? He is ambidextrous and that is just another quality added to his characteristics. He too also showed his value. He scores, able to take on defender in one-on-one situations. Ivan knows how to make the difference. He is certainly worth €70M that Inter are asking Manchester United for.”
