Bergomi: "It takes time to play as a team. Season goals? Top four and CL round of 16"
Speaking to La Repubblica, Beppe Bergomi tries to explain the reasons for this false start that Inter have in Reggio Emilia versus Sassuolo.
“The Neroverdi were very well organized. They took the field with the right attitude and in the midfield, Magnanelli and Duncan had a great game. Inter had a good shopping campaign although they did not redeem Rafinha but they now have Nainggolan. This is because the club needs a few more goals. Icardi and Perisic are not enough. Without Modric, Asamoah was tested in the midfield in the preseason but he is better playing on the left side. Inter last season scored many points with Borja Valero in the lineup as a protagonist but everyone should be involved, even Candreva who seems to be out of the squad but he can be dangerous on the wing.
“It is just taking time to play as a team. It is true that Juventus, Napoil and Roma all won last round but all struggled to get result. I do not think Inter should consider winning the Scudetto as a seasonal objective even if 90 minutes are just too few to judge. The goal for the Nerazzurri this season is to confirm themselves again in the top four and get out of the group stage in the Champions League.”
