Serie A matchday 3: Bologna vs. Inter Preview - It's Ninja time
Ninja time has arrived. The fans are waiting for him like a messiah who is 43 days without any real football. Inter must get out of this unexpected slump at the start of this season. The Belgian had played 100 minutes in preseason and then he injured his left thigh but this afternoon, finally, Nainggolan will make his season debut in Bologna.
He is the symbol of an ambitious Inter in the summer, the “coup” to improve Spalletti’s squad not only in Serie A but also in the Champions League. Too bad that the injury suffered against Sion in the second friendly of preseason has kept him out of action until now. Without him, Spalletti had to invent a different version of Inter, one without his horsepower in the engine. Now, however, he is back. And Inter are hoping to immediately find the leader often missed in the rough sea.
The Belgian international is expected to start next to Ivan Perisic behind lone forward Mauro Icardi in the attack. Due to his presence, Matteo Politano will sit this one out. The Italian has been one of the very few bright spots early on (together with Asamoah and De Vrij) but you just cannot play everyone.
Besides that change, everything else should be identical to previous game against Torino. The back three of Skriniar, De Vrij and D’Ambrosio with Vecino-Brozovic pivot in the midfield. Asamoah is fine after suffering a small knock previously and will occupy the left wing while on the right is Vrsaljko.
There is no other way to put it: this is a must win. Inter are in a hole and in just over 24 hours we will know if it is a deeper hole or it is a thing of the past.
