Asamoah is so important that Spalletti cannot live without him
With 24 appearances (preliminary round included), Asamoah is one of the most experienced Inter players for the Champions League thanks to his years at Juventus. Speaking at which, the Ghanaian decided to leave the Bianconeri after six seasons, accepting a three-year deal at €3M/year offered by Inter.
This decision was not just about wanting a new beginning even at the age of 29, but it was also about his family’s desire to not stray too far from the Turin-Milan-London triangle (for his wife’s work). At Juve, he never felt safe from a possible transfer in the future. Inter convinced him that he would be an important player for the Nerazzurri and he is exactly that now.
The next game is in Genoa against Sampdoria and there is no doubt that with him on the pitch, Luciano Spalletti will have more choices (also D’Ambrosio trained together with the group and Lautaro is almost there…). But the coach will not deploy a team without Asamoah.
