Materazzi: "Nainggolan's controversy? He has nothing to hide. Inter fans show support no matter the results..."
He was one of the first to welcome Radja Nainggolan to Inter. Marco Materazzi is a known fan of the Belgian, one that “is an enthralling player who can transmit something extra to the team. The controversy off the pitch? When you are 30 years old with that kind of career, what do you have to hide? He is not 20, he is not a young player that we are still trying to discover. Spalletti had him before, trained him and revolutionized him: the coach knows that Nainggolan can give. He is a man of significance in this team, one that is able to drag this team forward.”
Few words on the difficult start to the new season and the Icardi-Lautaro duo.
“Basically they dropped two points against Torino, especially after the first half which they played so well, you cannot not win that game. The standard that the fans must expect from this Inter side is from that first 45 minutes, with that audience, with that support, it is not hard to play like that. I always say it: Inter fans are the least demanding fans in Italy. Go ahead, find me a fanbase that shows up and gives that type of number (attendance etc…) regardless of results…
“We will see Lautaro and Icardi again. Spalletti played them together all summer and will not abandon that idea after one game (versus Sassuolo).”
