Bergomi: "I don't agree with Totti. Juve's rivals are built well this year"

“Totti said that teams are playing for second place? No Francesco, I do not agree with you this time.”

Beppe Bergomi, interviewed by the Gazzetta dello Sport, explains that “first of all, it should be emphasizes that many times, statements made by coaches or directors are used to release some pressure. I am not just talking about Totti but also about certain things coaches say at the end of matches, like when Spalletti defined his Inter as the anti-Juve.

“This season, our league does not seem too obvious to me. Juve’s rivals all made convincing shopping campaign. Milan already had a good team, structure and quality and they now have Higuain. Inter have built a physical team, very deep squad, and certainly can compete in all fronts in Italy and Europe. Napoli basically remain the same, they just changed their manager. Roma are very different compared to last year and so they are struggling to sort of set things up. Let’s not forget Lazio, the team that I always like a lot. They will certainly annoy Juve although I don’t think they can fight for second place.”
