Steven Zhang to become Inter president in October
Suning is the first Chinese ownership to bring a professional football team to the Champions League. Inter will face Barcelona, Tottenham and PSV in Europe and to Steven Zhang, this is not considered a nightmare but rather an opportunity.
According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, the son of Jindong is being studied to be the president of Inter.
“Against Kane and company, there is the possibility of seeing his dad, Zhang Jindong, in the stands but there is zero doubts that the face of this Inter’s ownership is Steven. Ever since the board of directors meeting in June of 2017, his powers and responsibilities have increased considerably such as signing players on the transfer market, dealing with the stadium and sponsorship situations without getting approvals from others.
“Erick Thohir, the current Inter president, will arrive at the end of his term in October and the shareholders will be called to elect a new number 1. And the most likely and natural candidate is Steven Zhang, already a Suning’s international development director. This rotation can occur independently to the Indonesian’s exit from the club: the 31% that he currently holds is wanted by Suning but negotiations do not seem to be close to a conclusion.
“Steven now lives permanently in Milan and works closely with Inter legend Javier Zanetti. His future at this club seems to have already been written.”
