Mauro Icardi's performances have dropped... and it is not exactly his fault
Inter are experiencing another case of Icardi-dependent. The captain struggled to score in the first few weeks of the season - where Inter managed to send 11 different players on the scoresheet at the beginning of November - and then Icardi just couldn’t stop. At least until mid-December when he helped Inter overcome Udinese from the penalty spot. Since then, it is only darkness: four matches without scoring (Chievo, Napoli, Empoli and Sassuolo).
His performances have dropped and not because him. Mauro is changing his way of playing, working more for the team, as requested several times by Spalletti. In recent matches, it seems that he is very little involved in the attacking area. Will things go back to the way they were when Icardi was exclusively in the box and not receiving the ball on the right wing? Time will tell…
