Inter tried to sign Marc Roca in January but unable to as club remains in settlement agreement. Talks likely to resume in summer
The media in Spain has no doubt: in the last market window, Inter tried to bring to Appiano Gentile Marc Roca, talented 22-year-old midfielder of Espanyol. FCIN can confirm that Inter were really interested in the player and an attempt was made, contact with both his club and agent did really happen. But negotiation did not take off because in order for them to sell such an important player in January transfer window, the Catalan club demanded the payment of the entire release clause of €40M.
An unthinkable figure considering that Inter are still under UEFA settlement agreement until June. As a result, they pushed for loan with option to buy and so nothing happened. The club of Suning did not make any other offer that could at least make the Spaniards consider it. But this does not mean that things will remain the same in a few short months. The player and his agent appreciated and were flattered that such a prestigious and important club like Inter showed great interest.
For this reason, it is plausible to think that both sides will resume contact again in the summer transfer window. Roca is the kind of player that Inter really need for its midfield, a mix of Xabi Alonso and Sergio Busquets. Great technique and vision of a playmaker who runs and fights for all 90 minutes.
