Parma is Spalletti's last chance: Inter demand result and performance. Firing him would cost Inter about €20M gross
2019 has not been kind to Inter and as a result, Luciano Spalletti is hanging on to his coaching position by a thread. According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, the future is no longer obtaining top four finish or going deep in Europa League because the future is on Saturday against Parma. This is the last chance for Luciano Spalletti to get a result to at least postpone any decision when it comes to a coaching change.
If we have another performance like that against Bologna this Saturday versus Parma, the firing of Luciano Spalletti will be a consequence of it. Yesterday evening, after losing at home 1-0 to the Rossoblu, Inter executives gathered for two separate meetings.
The first, which lasted just over 20 minutes, was between Spalletti, Marotta and Gardini while Ausilio was not at the stadium because he was the latest victim of the flu. They used this meeting to analyze the reasons for such decline in performance as Inter have only had 1 point in three league games in 2019 in addition to Coppa Italia elimination. Then Spalletti left the stadium by himself.
The second meeting was between those in Inter leadership: about 30 minutes to evaluate what to do. And the result of this is confirmation of trust to the coach at least until the game against Parma when the future of Spalletti is not only related to the result but also to how the team performs. Keep in mind that Spalletti has a contract until 2021 at €4.5M net per season: firing him would cost Inter €20M gross potentially.
