Spalletti: "Very bad first half but we reacted well. Keita and Icardi have five days to finish their treatment and must be on the pitch to do good for Inter"
Inter took a major step back in Cagliari which got a massive win to get closer to their objective of staying up in Serie A and at the same time, this victory puts third place in jeopardy for the Nerazzurri. The following are Luciano Spalletti’s comments to Sky Sport after the match.
“First half was bad, I didn’t like a bit of everything. We were slow making decisions, ball movement was bad. There was little quality and intuition about where the ball would fall. Won very few duels and balls as well.”
When Inter went behind, the club has never shown the ability to make a comeback.
“Yes, but it is not so much about reversing the result, it is the reaction that you have on the pitch. We reacted well after the first goal and in the second half, we also did well for a large portion. But if you don’t score, it turns into a stat to be thrown at you. But it is important to analyze the entire game.”
You used Ranocchia in the attack again. How do you avoid doing the same thing again?
“I can say the same thing again: if there is a place where you can help Inter, it is on the pitch. Based on the result and attitude of Cagliari in the final minutes, it was useless to put in another quick player. We needed a player in the box.”
Spalletti also spent a few works on Keita and Icardi.
“Icardi must be on the pitch to do good for Inter. That can only happen if he is on the pitch. Why did you ask about him and Keita in a different way? Both are injured and have five days to finish their treatment. You are suggesting that there is something wrong in his behavior, otherwise you would ask the question about them the same way.”
