Inter seem to sign new fullbacks every summer and this time it won't be different: strong interest bringing Darmian and Palmieri back to Italy
Inter seem to have new fullbacks every summer and it will be the same story in just a few months when the 2019 summer transfer window opens. According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, the Nerazzurri would like to bring both Matteo Darmian and Emerson Palmieri back to Italy from the Premier League.
Ausilio negotiated for Darmian a summer ago but then later turned to Vrsaljko. Marotta, when he was at Juventus, always rated Darmian very highly. Inter must fill the fullback position this summer after this season where Cedric was last-minute solution to Vrsaljko who was hurt most of the time at Inter. But the Portuguese is not the player that the club will focus on for the future and so they will not exercise the option to redeem him from Southampton. In the meantime, Darmian has a contract until 2020 and surely signing him won’t be an expensive operation: €12M.
Unfortunately, it will not be like that for the former Roma defender who is currently at Chelsea.
“Dalbert’s stay at Inter is not a certainty. So look out for Emerson Palmieri who in the past showed that he can also play on the right side. The player has an Italian passport and has entered the national team. Recently, he has found a bit more playing time with the Blues but in general, he has played very little this season. His value is not low as Chelsea paid €20M plus bonuses to sign him in January 2018. Inter have his name on the list, same with Juventus, and would like to bring him back to Italy. Emerson is fine in London and relationship with Chelsea is good. But it is clear that if he doesn’t play, that would risk the possibility of him playing in Euro 2020.”
