Bergomi: "Players, manage your emotion. Fans, stop putting pressure on them after 15 minutes without scoring. All must be united on Sunday"
Giuseppe Bergomi is not very optimistic regarding the game against Empoli, valid for assess to the Champions League next season.
“I see it as a difficult game because Empoli are in great form, they play very well and have nothing to lose. Until three weeks ago, they were already in B but Inter can do it and how the players manage their emotion will be crucial that is being able to control anxiety, tension and fear.
“I also think that the fans should and must work on their mentality as well, not only those of the players which should be calm. No nervous energy this week. I know Inter fans very well. If after 15 minutes and the team has not scored, they will begin to put pressure on the players. And at that point, the team will surely go into even more trouble if it does not have players with strong personalities on the pitch.
“Fans must stay close to the players, help them, encourage them from start to finish. The game against Empoli is the typical game that can be won only if there is a perfect union between the team and its supporters. And perhaps the ending will be like that against Lazio a year ago.
“Inter fans are wonderful. No Italian club has such a high average attendance at the stadium. This will be another reason for the players to keep closely in their heard and to have the sense of belonging.”
