Champions League changes everything: Chiesa or Lukaku only possible with top-four finish
Everything depends on Sunday because making the Champions League next season changes all. With or without it, the strategy plans are completely different depending on the outcome considering that Inter have just left UEFA settlement agreement but will have to respect the deficit of €30M (cumulatively) in the next three years.
Conte chose Inter project when third place seemed to be a formality but now we know that this seasonal objective is still up in the air. CEO Giuseppe Marotta convinced the Italian coach with the reassurance that, with Champions League, the team would be rebuilt on a large scale. If Spalletti manages to finish his Inter career in the top four, it will be possible to go after a star player between Chiesa and Lukaku, in addition to Dzeko.
The first costs €70M and has long been in the sights of Juventus but he is looking to be a protagonist, a starter and that is a lot easier to achieve at Inter.
