2019-2020 Champions League draw is August 30th, Inter are in pot 3 (pot 4 last year)
Juventus, Napoli, Atalanta and Inter are in the Champions League. Lazio, Milan and Roma are in Europa League. Torino, 7th in the standings, are waiting for UEFA’s sentence on the Rossoneri in the next few days, hoping for things to go their way.
Pending the decision in Nyon, the Italian contingent for the 2019-2020 European competitions is now finalized with Atlanta who, for the first time in their 111 years history, have qualified for the Champions League, the 15th Italian team in history.
In terms of pot placement, as Italian league champions, Juventus are automatically in the pot 1. Napoli are in pot 2, followed by Inter and Atalanta in pot 3 and 4 respectively. The draw on August 30th in Montecarlo will be fun and the completion of all four pots will be finalized after two finals: Chelsea-Arsenal on Wednesday in Baku (Europa League) and Liverpool-Tottenham on Saturday in Madrid (Champions League).
In pot 2, there are Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, the loser between Liverpool and Tottenham and Chelsea if they defeat Arsenal. If the Blues take the cup, they will go straight to the group stage (otherwise, they will go through preliminaries). Ajax? They are semifinalists of this year but will start from the third preliminary round due to rankings of the Netherlands.
