Inter, Cagliari to close Barella deal in June. Conte envisions Barella to play like Kante at Chelsea
Full steam ahead as Inter are pushing hard for Nicolo Barella, an all-purpose midfielder who is liked by Antonio Conte very much.
For weeks, Inter and Cagliari have been working on a possible agreement. The first offer of €30M plus two young players between Gavioli, Colidio and Merola was interesting but it was not enough as Cagliari president Tommaso Giulini values Barella at €50M.
And thus, Inter have launched a new offer of €33M and the players included remain the same because Cagliari really like Colidio and Gavioli. Next week, the 2000-born midfielder’s agent will meet the Rossoblu, likely to build the foundation for the transfer with the assessment of €7M.
And so we are already at €40M and to get to €50M, the value of Barella, we need Colidio who is worth €10M in the eyes of Inter management. But there is an issue: Inter paid €6.5M to Boca Juniors for the Argentinian striker and so, unlike the case of Gavioli, selling Colidio would not give Inter capital gains. This is why the third name on the list in Merola is heating up and for months, Inter negotiated his renewal with agent Raiola.
Regarding reaching personal terms with Nicolo Barella, there should not be any problem. For the midfielder, a five-year deal worth €2.5M net per season plus bonuses is ready. At this team, Antonio Conte envisions the Italian to play like N’Golo Kante, capable of advancing forward and entering the opposite box.
Both teams are close to the point that they can close this operation in June.
