Cagliari president: "It was the right time to sell Barella. One day I will see him again"
Cagliari president, Tommaso Giulini, speaks to the Corriere dello Sport about his Rossoblu and especially the recent decision to sell Nicolo Barella to Inter.
“This summer was the right time to sell, I was very certain. Even on a personal level, Nicolo’s departure has a huge weight. He and I, we worked together for many years, I saw him born as a footballer, grew, established himself, conquered the national team. As soon as I became president, Matteoli told me that there was a boy with great future. He then made Primavera immediately then debuted with Zola in the Italian Cup. Since then, Nicolo had always been in the first team except for the season in which I decided to send him to Como. Rastelli and Capozucca were against it, I imposed it myself. Nicolo return from Como as a man, it was a fundamental step in his maturation. The other night, he came to my home and we hugged each other. I told him that for me it was just a ‘see you later’ and that one day I will see him again in Cagliari and he shares the same idea.”
