Antonio Conte: "We never gave up, this is very positive in terms of our mentality"

After the game against Valencia yesterday, Inter coach, Antonio Conte, once again stressed the importance in the players’ attitude and desire to never give up.

”It was a difficult and important match against an excellent side who have had the same coach for a long time. Last year, they won the Copa del Rey against Barcelona, for example.

“The lads’ performance was positive, because they once again displayed a desire to not give up, they didn’t want to come out of the match defeated. This is a very positive thing in terms of our mentality. I said to them that they could do better, but we are working hard to improve. They’re a bit tired because they are working from both a tactical and physical point of view in order to get up to speed. Tonight was another step forward in our development.”

On individual performances - “It was the first time this summer that Lautaro and Politano have played together. Lautaro has only been training with us for a few days, but he showed commitment and desire. Matteo had an injury problem. Both of them, but in general everyone, need to get used to the mechanisms I’m looking for in attack. I’m happy for Esposito, who came on in the right manner, and Longo, who is really helping us out.”
