Inter have been trying to sell Joao Mario for three consecutive transfer windows but nothing seems to materialize
There have been three consecutive transfer windows that every Inter fan has asked this question: “Have Inter sold Joao Mario yet?” The answer: Not yet. Last summer, the Portuguese was at the center of loan operations but nothing materialized. In January, there were new attempts but with less conviction. This time, Joao Mario is clearly on the outgoing list. His transfer to Inter from Sporting Lisbon in 2016 for €40M does not make it any easier for the Nerazzurri to sell him as the club is trying to avoid capital loss.
The club of Suning still has not received a good offer for the Portuguese midfielder. If his “twin” Gabriel Barbosa (meaning both arrived for huge amount of money in same summer) is trying to restart his career in Brazil and has found many admirers for loan, Joao Mario seems to have even less market. There have been inquiries but negotiations have not taken off. And now, with just over two weeks left, and with selling as one of Conte’s top priorities, it is extremely difficult for Joao Mario to stay after another transfer market window.
