First Milan derby for Stefano Sensi, Inter managed to steal him last summer due to the hesitation of Maldini and Boban
Stefano Sensi has been by far the protagonist of these first few weeks of the season for Inter. And tomorrow will be his first Milan derby against whom that he was very close to join in the summer.
Former Milan executive Leonardo, since the start of 2019, had targeted the former Sassuolo regista, agreement was then reached with his representatives and first approaches were made with Sassuolo management.
And then at the end of last season, Leonardo decided that it was time for him to move on and the Rossoneri started to loosen its grip on Sensi. But they did not give up entirely because between late May and early June, there were several visits by agent Giuseppe Riso at Casa Milan but due to the growth of the player (called up to the national team), the asking price was no longer €25M but overall evaluation was €35M.
Maldini and Boban were never convinced of investing such figure, they evaluated a two-year loan deal but that formula did not satisfy Sassuolo.
And so, taking advantage of this stand-by, Inter stepped in and exploited immediately the excellent relationship between Marotta, Ausilio and the Neroverde CEO Cernevali. In just a couple of days, everything was done and Sensi became an Inter player.
