Danilo D'Ambrosio: "We are not 100%. Having Conte as coach raises the bar but also responsibility. A draw would feel like a defeat"
Speaking to Inter TV, Danilo D’Ambrosio discussed his shot that hit the post in the first half.
“I was already convinced that I would score the goal but then Rodriguez challenged me (ball deflected off of him) and it ended up hitting the post.”
Do you like being a right wing back more than playing in the right center back position?
“As I have said many times, when you go on the pitch and you know what you have to do, everything becomes simpler. Being a wing back allows you to create and have scoring chances but for me there is no difference whatsoever. Certain plays are different but intensity and desire to win must remain the same.”
Your thought on the team this year?
“We are built to ‘annoy’ the big teams, I’m talking about those who have done better than us in the past years. As our coach has said, the race has started but we are only in September. The fact is that having a coach like Conte raises the bar but also responsibility: a draw, for our coach and therefor for us, is automatically a defeat. We are growing on the mental aspect too.”
Are Inter ahead of Milan in terms of finding an identity?
“In my opinion, there is still much to improve. This team, in my opinion, has not yet shown 100%. But we are only two months in and we cannot perform 100% what the coach asks of us. We can take other steps forward.”
