No rotation as Conte looks to play his best players against Barcelona and then Juventus
No rotation, not this time. In the holy week leading up to the Italian derby four days after the match against Barcelona, Antonio Conte will not rotate his player between Europe and Serie A. That already happened not too long ago between Lazio and Sampdoria where he played seven new starters in Bastoni, Candreva, Sensi, Gagliardini, Asamoah, Lautaro and Sanchez. So, at least eight players, from Handanovic to Lukaku, will be responsible to tackle this double challenge this week.
“Handa is a cannibal and that doesn’t change even at 35 years old. Last season, for example, the goalkeeper only missed the first game in the Coppa Italia. Defensively, GDS is untouchable. Godin doesn’t get scared playing in front of Barcelona and Juve, De Vrij is the defensive director who Inter cannot miss and Skriniar is the dog that never gets tired. In the midfield, Brozovic and Sensi are ready. They give Inter ideas, lungs (running etc) and goals (five total). On the left, it is difficult to dislodge Asamoah. The man on the right is more uncertain: Candreva and D’Ambrosio could alternate. The third in the middle is also not a sure thing: Barella could play at the Camp Nou where Inter do not need tall physical midfielders and one between Vecino-Gagliardini against Juve? Up front, the totem is Lukaku: against Sampdoria he started on the bench and Inter need him again. But who’s next to him? With the red in Genoa, Sanchez will not play against Juventus and so he is likely to be featured on Wednesday.”
