Wanda Nara: "Inter and Icardi, this is not a divorce. This is a pause for reflection"
“People said that I was hurting my husband, the father of my children. Do people think when they talk? How can I not want Mauro to do well? His well being is also mine as well.”
Speaking to the Corriere della Sera, Wanda Nara tells her side of the soap opera that lasted all summer long, one that led Icardi to Paris Saint Germain.
“This is not a divorce. Mauro and Inter are like a couple who take a pause for reflection.”
Are you saying Icardi will return?
“You cannot say no to PSG, they have everything to win. This is a club full of stars and Mauro is honored to be part of it. At the end of the season we will choose what’s best: I work for him but the choices are his.”
He said no too many offers, how did you convince him to accept PSG in the end?
“I’m a wife, not a lawyer: I know him. I knew that he would have said yes. The choice of PSG came after a year of controversy and tension. He made that decision to give some peace to the children and family. Had he remained, his case would have remained as well.”
Your relationship with Inter has deteriorated. Why?
“Because of many misunderstandings, but the desire to stay at Inter and the love for the fans remain. In a long relationship, there are obstacles. In the end, we leave each other with a stitched up relationship, without any betrayal.”
What really happened?
“Inter needed to sell Icardi. As a captain Mauro would never have left this this club. It was a strategy to sell him.”
What motivation was the armband remove?
“To sell him, as he was told. Last January, he refused to transfer to another team, he replied that ‘I’m the captain and I will not leave.’ Relationship started to break since then, the club had other idea.”
Was that club in January Juventus that offered Higuain plus €50M?
“I will not say the name of the team. But the other player came to Milan, not Inter. If they spoke clearly to Mauro it would have been different. They couldn’t remove the armband at the end of the season?”
When it was taken away, Icardi then refused to go to Vienna. Why?
“It didn’t happen that way. He was already paying with main in his knee. When they removed the armband he said: ‘To play, not only the body is needed but especially the soul.’ And at that moment it broke me. Inter knew that Mauro had already gone three times to Barcelona for treatment.”
